About our artists

Shane Hansen

Tainui – Ngati Hine, Ngati Mahunga
Lives – Tutukaka, Northland, Aotearoa

Shane Hansen likes a strong, clean line. His creations spring from a world of bold colours and optimistic clarity, a pop-art invitation to a feel-good New Zealand celebration. Shane is of Maori, Chinese, Danish and Scottish descent, which is reflected in his art as he navigates his way on a journey of cultural discovery and self acceptance. He describes his work as his therapy, kai for the mind and soul.

Shane works in many mediums such as wood, glass and metal which he sees as a reflection of his multi-cultural make-up. He mainly paints on plywood as the grains, knots and blemishes have a history, tell a story and bring a special depth to his work.

Artist – Flox

Lives – Auckland, New Zealand

An aerosol and stencil artist with a fine art degree, Flox first made her mark on the inner cityscape of Auckland in 2003. Her trademark native birds, ferns and flowers – a celebration of Aotearoa’s environmental taonga  vibrant, confident colour; and scale combined with delicacy; magically transformed grey walls into vibrant depictions of the natural world.

Flox swiftly expanded her practice into prints, publications, murals, graphic design, live painting, projects, workshops for both school and the wider public, collaborations, charity work and both group and solo exhibitions. Her accessible narratives have broadened her appeal and shaped her into one of New Zealand’s most recognised contemporary artists.

Angie Dennis

Lives – Auckland, New Zealand born England

Established Auckland artist Angie Dennis has been painting professionally since 2002. Angie studied environmental science which perhaps explains her love for preserving flora and fauna in her artworks.

Angie is continually inspired by the unique landscape of New Zealand and is constantly pushing boundaries on how she sees life in her new found home.
